The first course of its type to run in Jersey, this is an exciting opportunity to learn how to develop computer games. The course covers the technical aspects of the game development industry utilising and embedding strong coding skills to develop game engines and immersive environment’s.
The course also covers the creative and graphical aspects of the industry focussing on both 2-D and 3-D environments. The Creative and technical skills that students will learn will be transferable to many different industries on the Island.
One of the most important aspects of working in Digital Industries is continual professional development and maintaining evolving skills. As such, for those of you that will be joining us at Highlands, you will need to continually practice your technical and digital skills.
Practical assessments such as coding a video game or developing a 2D/3D character are commonplace on the course to develop the necessary skills required to succeed in industry and at higher levels of study. These assessments are then supplemented with written reports and examinations develop theoretical knowledge of the subject.
The final qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels, giving you the skills to either move on to University or go straight into employment.
BTEC Level 3 Diplomas are valued by employers and lead to career opportunities in business such as Web Development, App Production (Software-Development), Computing and Game Development (usually in a Trainee position with opportunities for progression).
You will complete assignments that will develop the skills and knowledge that lead to creative digital and/or computing careers, or higher education.
