Welcome to the Automotive Department

Imagine working with the world’s fastest cars or building your own motor vehicle business. If you love cars and engines, a career in automotive can provide a variety of options and job satisfaction.

Your training will provide you with essential knowledge for service technicians working on modern light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots. You’ll learn all about engines, their various components and steering systems as well as health and safety.

Units studied on the course will include:

  • Routine Vehicle Servicing

  • Health & Safety in the Automotive Environment

  • Four-Stroke Engine Technology

  • Use of Workshop Tools & Equipment

  • Low Carbon Technologies

  • Vehicle Electrical Principles

  • Steering Systems & Tyre Technology for Light Vehicles

  • Light Vehicle Braking Systems
